UYUNI SALT LAKE TOUR 1 DAY

The Uyuni town (3676 meters), is located in southwest Bolivia in the Department of Potosí at a distance of 552 km from the city of La Paz.
Uyuni is the starting point for visiting important tourist attractions, especially the Salt Lake (10,582 km2), considered the largest salt desert in the world. This beautiful white landscape contrasts with the highland landscape of the region, with mountain ranges of volcanoes, deserts, and coloured lagoons, which are within the National Reserve Eduardo Avaroa. Another important feature of this region is the Andean fauna such as the Andean pink flamingos, Andean geese, llamas, vicuñas, etc.
You can only access Uyuni by land, either by bus (10 hrs.) from the city of La Paz or by train (7hrs.) from the city of Oruro.
The tour begins at 10:30 heading toward the village of Colchani, where we look at the processing and piles of salt where you can buy salt handicrafts. At 12:00 we visit the eyes of the Salt Lake and the salt hotel which are in the middle of the Lake. Later we go to Fish Island (Incahuasi Island) whose features are the giant cacti which can measure more than 8 meters. On this island we have lunch and we have 2 and a half hours of free time to get to know the location and take pictures of this landscape unique in the world. Around 15:30 we head back to Uyuni. On the way we visit the Cemetery of Trains arriving and finishing the tour in Uyuni at 17:00.
